The ramp leads into the building from the main entrance and
so I wanted it to look like it’s piercing out as the runway sort of like an
arrow. The long rectangular mass in the middle is surrounded by other masses
but it still stands out most because of its verticality.

SKETCH UPDATE
The sketch showing my building facing the Statue of Liberty,
and the reasoning behind why I angled it that way is because it is a much
stronger view that the cantilevering runway can face.

MY SITE ORIENTATION
My building faces Lady Liberty in Liberty Island because she
represents a fashion icon and the American freedom along with many other things,
and also she is one of the very few women statues. On top of everything else Lady
Liberty was a gift from France, and Paris is known to be a Fashion Capital. Haute
Couture began during the 18th century in France and designers there then
began to be the fashion Mughals and prescribed what is known to be fashionable
and what is not. So with that said since my Building is a Boutique Hotel based
on high fashion and has a cantilevering runway over the water and all, it is a
stronger view and the best direction the building can face.

IDEA ON SITE
Site 1
My building takes the form of the land because I feel like this can relate to the site and in a way it balances out in plan for me. Since my building is raised up twelve feet above ground, there is a ramp that leads into the main entrance which translates into the streets. The red bending mesh that squiggles around represents a flexible element to the rigid form of the building.

DIMENSIONS OF SPACES
These are the dimensions for the spaces for my Boutique Hotel. I got my information from Time Savers.
RESTAURANT
BAR
GUEST ROOMS
REGISTRATION COUNTER
RETAIL SPACES
COATROOMS
RESTROOMS & TOILETS
HYBRID MODEL
My hybrid model is the combination of the study models I did before. Since I am doing a Boutique Hotel based on high fashion, I have this rectangular element which represents the runway, and it is the main focus. The red fabric pieces encircles both sides until the blue foam decides to cantilever out like a deck and pierces through the net.
