SITE ANALYSIS FOR SITE 1

I am choosing site one because from the analysis I did it would be the perfect site for my Boutique Hotel. This site has an open space and there is a park right next to it. Also my site has direct access to Van Dyke Street which takes you to one of the main attractions which is Ikea. The site also has pier 44 for any water access directly near my site. All the sites have views of the waterfront but  overall I chose this site because of its size and  location.

The building typology I will be researching is a Boutique Hotel.

2.      Why are you researching this building typology?

Based on the site analysis I feel the site needs a Boutique hotel to attract more people to Red Hook.

3.      What is the specialty of this building type you would like to research i.e. museum for dance, school for digital media…

The specialty of my building will be a hotel with high fashion retail stores.

My goals for working with this building type is to give the community an attractive site which will be inviting to the tourists and will transform a quiet neighborhood and give it  life.

Some Program elements I see in the Boutique hotel are retail stores, a theatre, restaurants and spas.
